About My Work
My work is Pilates with lots of other stuff; whatever the body in front of me needs.
Primarily my curiosity lies with the impact and implications of a healthy nervous system on our ability to move, learn new motor skills, be present, respond with openness, communicate well, and be resilient and strong no matter our age, fitness level, life or professional situation, which we know changes moment-by-moment sometimes…especially now.
I draw from a life in movement including dance, Pilates, yoga, fascial/connective tissue release and reorganization (body rolling and self-massage), all kinds of fun functional anatomy and biomenchanic tricks, brain-based motor development, nervous system down-regulation techniques, and modalities such as Feldenkrais, primal movement, dance, and other somatic approaches.
Bottom line: This is movement from a whole-person perspective.
What I love is working with folks who really want to KNOW their body and themselves better.
Over the years, my work has taken me in two seemingly different directions:
- The advanced mover/learner/teacher
- Folks suffering from chronic pain, autoimmune disease, depression, anxiety, and other mental/emotional trauma
My approach to teaching and learning is about deep exploration, honesty, relationship with self and body, and creating opportunities for students to become the experts of their own body, their own experience.
I’m the expert of my craft. You’re the expert of your body. Together we’re the perfect team.
