A New 28 Days
Writing for Resilience, Safety + Positive Change
Now more than ever in our history we are being asked, it is being demanded, that we LOOK anew; that we face what is difficult, painful, challenges our assumptions and forces us to let down our defenses — conscious and unconscious as they may be.
Now more than ever in our world we are being pushed to stay present with uncertainty and not-knowing; pushed to lean into the dark and the light and tap our deepest resources of creativity, kindness — for self and other as there is NO SEPARATION — and be a part of positive and long lasting change.
Many of us, if not all of us, are suffering from the aftermath — and continued strain — of Covid, sheltering-in-place, radical changes in our professional and personal landscapes. And…it’s not over.
This time around, I’ve joined forces with my brilliant colleague, Amherst Writers + Artists (AWA) method writing facilitator and Pilates teacher, Julie Lanocha, to bring you a 28-day exploration of your heart, your soul, your history, your trauma, and anything that is stewing inside your beautiful self.
What it’s all about:
January 2nd, 2021
This course is not only about developing RESILIENCE but the ability to RECOVER and to REPAIR; to recover our senses, our emotions, our bodies, our ability to decide and do the “next right thing” by unearthing — mining — what’s inside of us: emotions yet to be articulated; stories yet to be told or understood; pain yet to be revealed; joy yet to be discovered.
We will be focused on navigating the intense ups and downs of the world, our lives, and being able to, each morning, stand back up, take a deep breath, extend genuine friendliness to ourselves for whatever experience we’re having and take another step into the unknown.
Our practices will prioritize movement that nurtures our bodies and our nervous systems, putting an even greater emphasis on journaling and exploratory writing working with well-crafted and expertly guided prompts from our co-facilitator, Julie Lanocha.
For the 10 years I’ve been running this course and all of the sudden I realize why. For THESE moments. For these moments when we need it the most. And I’m ready.

The Importance of Writing Down What’s Inside
“‘A writer is someone who writes.’ It’s said over and over again. The point being that grammar, spelling syntax are not the point and we don’t care about any of it. Your true voice is the vernacular of your soul. It’s usually the story of your beginning, the sounds and the vernacular of your earliest memories Or your greatest trauma which are often one in the same. Or at least a part of it. Don’t write to impress someone. Don’t try to imitate someone. Write what you feel.” — Pat Schneider of the AWA Method
The Safety of Practice
Practice gives us something to rely on. In a time when the landscape of our world is changing dramatically each day, we long for and need consistency. Our bodies need it, our minds need it, our nervous systems need it, and our spirits need it. A steady practice helps us to relate to ourselves, others, and our environment more healthfully as we step day-by-day into the unknown.
Community + Connection
There is something powerful about being on a journey with people; being dedicated to a very specific common goal, in support of a like thing. Your commitment to taking care of yourself thoughtfully right now in this way aligns you with others doing the same. No discord, no dissonance, no disputes, simply an agreement to move forward mindfully and with purpose. That’s this community. That’s this commitment.
Healthy Nervous System = Healthy Immune System
This is the work we need most right now, to cultivate steadiness through movement, awareness, and most of all creating space between stimulus and response. When our nervous systems are healthy they help us conserve resources, which means we thrive. In times of fear, anxiety, stress, and constantly changing conditions, our bodies and brains are easily taxed. Our work here is to bolster the nervous system as the foundation for mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
Included in your investment is access to the Daily Resilience Practice I’m hosting via Zoom M-F at 8 am PST. It’s a 30-minute practice. If you can’t make it I’ll send you a recording. *Each week you’ll get the new password. The Zoom link will remain the same.
