My definition of skillfulness…

The ability to attend fully to all aspects of an endeavor; to respond with openness, creativity, and awareness. To be skillful is to be willing to see many facets of a situation and to engage in problem solving that highlights the needs of the individual and that individual’s goals.

It is also the ability to be in the moment, with fluid confidence — a willingness to not know coupled with an unceasing curiosity for what there still is to learn — that is manifest in empowering a student/client/patient in actively engaging in their own experience with the same curiosity.

Skillfulness is based in technique and nurtured by ingenuity, intuition, and mindfulness and is a quality accessible to any teacher willing to be just where they are at any given moment.
